I'm just wondering if there's any hope left for Gh/Vi fics... and I mean proper fics! As... P-R-O-P-E-R- -F-I-C-S!

No matter how busy I am, I do my best to keep up with what's up on fic wise regarding those two.
I can thank my gmail account for letting my ff.net alerts through and it's really hard to 'avoid' such e-mails when google practically shouts at my ear... OI! X UPDATED HER/HIS FIC!
*Stops everything and clicks on link!*

~~~~NO!!! Please don't stop writing it!

~~~~There goes another db fic writer moving to gundam/harry potter/death note/twilight fandom

No... it's not a case of bipolar! But honestly, some stuff that I've read/re-read lately just brings me a lot of mixed feelings.

I've been reading db fics for what? 13 years (for some of you it hasn't even been that long since you popped out of your mum)... and I still enjoy a good fic as much as I did in day 1, the only problem is that I don't find them as often as I used to. (Which can't be helped as people move on and I'm aware of that)
Sometimes I wish I could move on but I simply cannot stop being interested in them, I find myself spending a lot of time (which I don't have) looking for new fics that I haven't read yet *cough procrastinating cough* and always end up re-reading old stuff to alleviate my frustrations!

Sometimes I wonder if there's any 'old-schoolers' and 'stubborn ones' such as me that simply cannot let it go, still out there... I know that there are some resistant souls over here and I know that I'm not alone in this 'fandom'. (I don't like the word 'fan' that much... call it negative connotation of the word, I dunno... it's a me thing). This rant is not directed to you!

But geez... sometimes I get bloody annoyed, and I seriously think that we need the patience of a saint to keep up with this 'new-gen' db fic writers. Who write 300 words, misspelled, regurgitated fics and get gazillions of reviews... whereas original and well written fics get close to none.
I honestly wished that ff.net for instance, had number of reviews as a sorting option... and 'by descending order' right after it. Because it's becoming obvious that readers prefer that kind of fics...
Fortunatelly, as pretty much everything in life, there are exceptions to the rule... but exceptions are still exceptions!

I know the term 'good' is subjective... what I consider good, you may portray it as crap.
But as a fic-writer myself, I know how much dedication I put into it... and although my fics are too long and boring and not fabulous (yes, I write slices-of-life... no I don't put SSJ4 Bio-Brollys nor evil-made-up-enemy in them!) I'm lucky enough that I'm used to not having a massive amount of reviews and that I enjoy writing and I do it for my sake. Therefore I don't use tactics such as 'If I don't have at least 10 reviews, I won't update'... my advise to whoever does this is, if you wrote a p-r-o-p-e-r fic you might sit comfortably on your chair and wait... don't forget to get some food supplies as you're gonna be there for long! If you just banged some random gibberish in a document and uploaded it, well... you might as well start your next chapter!

I know I'm generalising a lot... but this is just something that I wanted to get out of the system.

I know that after all not as many people share the fondness for Gh/Vi as much as they do with Bulma/Vegeta, or any other male/male pairing, so there aren't as many fics out there... and although I don't have a problem reading good fics with different pairings and I don't exclusively read Gh/Vi, I don't enjoy them as much as I do with those two as they're top of my list. I do consider myself lucky sometimes as I'm able to read fics in 4 different languages... and perhaps I shouldn't complain as much, lol.

Anyway, I think that's enough ranting for the year. I don't think I ever actually ranted about this anywhere... so I hope I won't get much hate back.

Just in case you're thinking, no... there was no fic in particular that caused this rant, there were several (throughout a long period of time) but I'm not going to mention their titles.
